Your Ultimate Morning Makeup Routine - Mia Taylor
If you’re one of those girls who simply loves to sleep, therefore doesn't have a lot of time for their morning makeup routine – welcome to the club! I’m also one of them, which is exactly why I had to come up with a routine that’s extremely simple yet effective and quick to carry out. So, if you would like to know how I do my makeup in the morning, just keep reading! Here are some useful tips on how to do it like a pro.
CLEANSE YOUR FACE THOROUGHLY
The first and one of the most important steps in my morning makeup routine is cleansing my face. It’s essential since there’s a build-up of night-time dirt, bacteria, and even makeup residue that needs to be removed. So, make sure to start your day off with a gentle cleanser that won’t overdry your skin and trigger excessive sebum production. Once that’s done, apply your old good moisturiser and the first step is completed!
DON’T FORGET TO PRIME
Primer is the next crucial product – it hides fine lines, fills in pores, and provides a flawless base for the rest of your makeup. You can always opt for a brightening skin primer which will refresh your tired and dry skin and help it glow. It’s definitely my personal favourite! Applying foundation is the next step, and if your face tends to get shiny and greasy throughout the day (especially your T-zone), you should also use an oil-absorbing pressed powder.
HIGHLIGHTER TO THE RESCUE
A nice, gentle highlight will immediately brighten up your face, so don’t forget to apply it under any circumstances. If you’re a fan of a blinding highlight, I just have to say that you should leave it for the evening – it may be too much in the morning. So, use a highlighter with a gentle glow that still helps your face look radiant and sun-kissed. Here’s a little tip: you can pick a champagne shimmer eye shadow instead of an actual highlighter – a touch of it on your cheekbones and under the brows will be more than enough!
A WIDE AWAKE LOOK ON POINT
If you didn’t manage to get much sleep last night, there’s one product that’s particularly useful in this case. A white or nude eye pencil does wonders whenever I look too sleepy or tired – I just tend to line my lower lid with it and diffuse the line with a blending eyeshadow brush. Then, I swirl the same brush over the tip of the pencil and apply it to the inner corners of my eyes. A few coats of black mascara are all I need in the end for the ultimate wide-awake look. Just remember to remove foundation from your brows, if there’s any so that they look natural and on point.
A SOFT BLUSH AND NICE LIPSTICK WILL MAKE YOUR DAY
Applying blush and lipstick is the last step, and one thing that needs to be done is making sure that these two match perfectly. So, if you pick a peachy blush, you should also go for a lipstick in a similar shade. The same goes for pink or any other hue. Of course, a nude lipstick is always a great option, and you can wear it with almost any blush shade. That’s exactly why it’s my favourite when I’m on the go. Besides colour coordination, it’s also important not to overdo your blush – just a tad is more than enough for a natural, healthy look.
Even though this morning makeup routine may look overwhelming and time-consuming, the truth is that it can’t be any simpler. It actually takes only 7 minutes to look flawless in the morning, so make sure to have these steps in mind when you get up tomorrow – these will help you look well-rested and radiant, no matter what!
